European Council’s President Herman Van Rompuy said on Tuesday that Greece should proceed with its privatization plan, while structural reforms are key to addressing the problem of competitiveness.
“The key is to continue implementing the courageous reforms and privatizations that have been agreed in a timely and effective manner”, said Herman Van Rompuy in a press conference, following his meeting with Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou.
European Council’s head stated that all these measures were unavoidable and should have been implemented long ago, but are in Greece΄s long-term interest, while he expressed his confidence of Greek government’s commitment.
