Bourousis changes mind over Greece

Yiannis Bourousis performed a U-turn and stated that he will not quit the national team after all.

Answering questions by journalism students at an Athens college, the Olympiakos forward admitted that his announcement after Game 2 of the league finals with Panathinaikos that he was quitting the national team was "in the heat of the moment" and he will not hold on to it.

"Everyone knows how much I love the national team. Everyone also knows the sacrifice I made last year to play despite my injury. This year I want to play, but I am not going to do it if I am not healthy. I have an injury problem and I am waiting for the doctors to tell me what I should do. We should know in a week's time."

"The statement I made after the match with Panathinaikos, that I would not play with Greece, was wrong, it was in the heat of the moment. I should not have mixed the national team with the clubs," admitted Bourousis.

He also said he would never cross to divide to join Panathinaikos, that he does not know why his coach Dusan Ivkovic left him out for about a month this season, but he intends to stay with the Reds for one more year, the last in his contract, and that he would prefer to win the league title than the Euroleague trophy.
