The Youth of Synaspismos (Coalision of the Left) supports the struggles for full equality and the abolition of discrimination in sexual orientation participating in Athens Pride today.
In a statement they note that ”While the effects of gender-based violence are multiplied in society where young people are mentally and physically abused at school by classmates and teachers, because of their sexual orientation or young people are forced to hide their sexual identity for fear of dismissing in their workplace-, we do not have the room to turn a blind eye.’The social marginalization, the violence against people with same-sex sexual orientation, as well as the commercialized caricature displayed in the media, are undoubtedly fervent social manifestations of racism.”
