Venizelos meets EU-IMF troika mission in Athens

Government Vice-President and Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos on Friday held a meeting with members of an EU-IMF troika mission that are in Athens for a new round of inspections of the Greek economy.

Sources said the meeting focused on ways to cover divergence from current budget targets and promoting structural changes, including privatisations.

The heads of the troika mission are due in Greece after August 15 and will prepare their final report that will be sent to the European Commission, European Central Bank and the IMF in September.

Based on the recommendations of this report, the EU and IMF will decide to disburse the 6th tranche of the loans to Greece, amounting to 8 billion euro. This will also be the first tranche of the new loan programme for Greece.
