PAOK managed to win their Europa League group thanks to a 1-1 home draw against 10-man Rubin Kazan on Thursday.
The
result meant that against all odds, the Greek team finished top of a
pool that also included the mighty English club Tottenham, who are now
out of the competition.
PAOK, along with Olympiakos, will be among
the seeded teams in the draw for the last 32 of the competition to take
place on Friday in Switzerland.
PAOK took the lead at the
Toumba stadium in the 16th minute through an Adelino Vieirinha penalty,
which came along with the red card shown to goalkeeper Sergei Ryzhikov.
Rubin
equalised three minutes into the second half courtesy of Haedo Valdez,
to snatch the point that saw them through to the second round as group
runners-up.
PAOK fans enjoyed another night of glory in
Europe, following the triumph at Tottenham, once again filling the
stadium to capacity.
