Aris secured the signing of two more foreign players on Thursday, although they are still in the lookout for a new manager.
The Thessaloniki club, who will face Manchester City next month for the round of 32 of the Europa League, announced the transfers of Japanese striker Daisuke Sakata and of Portuguese forward Danilo Pereira.
Sakata, who is 28 years old, played for the last decade at Yokohama Marinos in Japan, scoring 79 goals in 323 games. He signed a
one-and-a-half year contract with Aris and had his first training session with the Yellows on Thursday.
"I want to represent my country in the best possible way in Greece and in the European football. I am aware that the Japanese game is not famous in Greece, but I believe I will show Aris fans that I ca help the team in Greece and in Europe," stated Sakata.
Pereira came to Aris on a six-month loan from Parma. The 19-year-old former Estoril and Benfica striker is an Under-19 international with Portugal.
Before Sakata and Pereira, Aris had also secured the services of two more foreign poayers in this winter transfer window, midfielder Cristian Portilla and striker Nery Castillo.
Meanwhile, Aris have turned their attention to Latin America for the successor to Hector Raul Cuper on the club's bench, according to executive director Yiannis Kontis.
Assistant coach Yiannis Michalitsos will be the caretaking manager for the game against Ergotelis on Crete on Sunday.
Aris currently lie eighth at the Super League table with 23 points from 18 games.
