Atromitos and Olympiakos Volos saw off Diagoras and Kerkyra respectively in the Greek Cup quarterfinals on Thursday and will face each other in the semifinals.
Atromitos beat second-division side Diagoras for a second time, this time on Rhodes.
Having beaten their opponents 2-0 in the first leg at home, the Peristeri side went to the Rhodes and
scored a 1-0 win even though they fielded a number of substitutes. The game's sole goal came from Polish striker Marek Saganowski who headed the ball in at the 34th minute. The former Southampton made the most of a Stelios Sfakianakis corner from the right to beat the Diagoras defence.
Olympiakos Volos hosted Kerkyra and had to defend a 2-0 lead from the first leg, but came close to going out as they lost 2-1 on the night.
Kerkyra opened the score at the 17th minute through a Giorgos Paraskevaidis header after a corner from the right, with Olympiakos Volos equalising at the 28th via a Juan Martin tap-in.
Ilias Ioannou made it 2-1 for Kerkyra 17 minutes from time from the penalty spot, but the Corfu side could not get the crucial third goal that would have seen them reach the semifinals for the first time in their history.
Instead, it is an Olympiakos Volos first in the semis.
The semifinal lineup now is AEK vs PAOK and Atromitos vs Olympiakos Volos.
