Industrial production down 5.2% in December

Industrial production fell 5.2 percent in December 2010 for an average decline of 5.7 percent last year, the Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Wednesday. 
 
The statistics service, in a report, said the industrial production index fell 5.2 percent from December 2009, after a decline of 6.2 percent recorded in the previous 12-month period. The statistics service attributed the 5.2 percent decline of the index to a 7.8 percent drop in mining production, a 4.0 percent decline in manufacturing - reflecting a 21.6 percent fall in textiles, a 27.5 percent drop in clothing, a 17.2 percent fall in mining and a 40.3 percent drop in transport equipment - an 8.8 percent fall in electricity production and a 0.9 percent decline in water production in December.
