Supplementary Pensions On Review

Next Monday’s meeting of Labour Minister and Troika’s representatives will be critical, following yesterday’s meeting of officials that agreed on the complete review of supplementary pensions by October.

The Troika asked for a full schedule regarding the implementation of the new, single legislation about pensions and benefits of four major insurance funds.

According to Secretary General of Social Security Athena Dretta, the scheme will be ready in no more than 2 weeks, aiming the saving of EUR50mn.

Regarding electronic prescriptions, the Troika experts were well-informed about the delay of tenders but appeared conciliatory as it is a matter of transparency.

They also asked if there is a second plan of revenue in case the pharmaceutical companies win the case at the State Council and expressed their concern about the impact of the new health law on the cost of the primary health care.

The Troika has raised the issue of supplementary pensions regarding the timeplan of actuarial studies and the reliability of data.

Greek government had committed that the actuarial studies would be completed by March 2011, while Labour Minister told the House that they would be completed by late June 2011.
