Interpol on Friday reported the discovery of several valuable icons stolen from churches and monasteries in the region of Zagorochoria in Ioannina. The icons were found in a gallery in London, with the assistance of Scotland Yard.

Six have so far been positively identified as stolen and the investigation is continuing.

More stolen icons have also turned up in Berlin but their number and the regions they were taken from have not been specified.
