Andreas Loverdos: 'I put myself at the discression of the prime minister'

Health Minister Andreas Loverdos caught everyone by surprise during a news conference for
accredited authors of the Health Ministry. The minister, in essence, declared that he wishes to stay in the government, making himself available to the Prime Minister, while at the same time, expressing his objections to the adopted economic policy and the government’s operation.

Mr. Loverdos reviewed his tenure as Minister and followed through with criticism.

As he stated, the government seems to be confused since February, when it requested for the Medium Term Plan to be adopted by a qualified 180 parliament members majority.

Mr. Loverdos also said: “I do not belong in vague and contradictory policies and statements”, while he also went on to stress that a new Memorandum needs to be approved by all ministers and Mr. Papaconstantinou alone. He hinted at ministers that do not make the government’s process easier through statements or actions. “No guilt-trips or ambiguities befit the government’s attitude”, adding that the government’s apprehension and the position that the syndicates have taken, give the wrong message.
