KKE’s Papariga on the government policy

Opposition Communist Party of Greece (KKE) general secretary Aleka Papariga on Friday referred to the government policy and the recent violence in Athens inner city districts.

Speaking in a private radio station talk show, Papariga stressed that the "system wants consensus but it is not satisfied with PM Papandreou and main opposition ND leader Samaras who are called to implement it."

Commenting on the incidents of violence in downtown Athens, she stressed that measures will have to be adopted and her party's proposals will be announced within the next few days. Papariga pointed out that given the situation "it appears that the only solution is to clamp down on violence".

On the incidents of police violence in recent demonstrations, she said that the police reaction was not justified.
