And it is characteristic that the losses in Greece are raised even more when compared with those of other countries. In France and Spain, countries with 6 times our population, deaths amount only to 54. In Portugal 18 people have lost their lives while in Finland and Austria where extensive vaccinations take place, there are only 4 deaths.

On average, 15 new cases come everyday in ICUs for the past two weeks. Indicatively, 19 people with respiratory complications were inducted in ICUs just yesterday. On the same day the amount of flu patients in ICUs closed at 104, occupying an equal number of beds of the total 150 around the country.
Greece is at the peak of the seasonal flu as the data from Europe shows. Specifically, our country is one of the 5 that the highest activity occurs – the others are Bulgaria, Italia, Norway and Latvia. In the rest of the continent the flu is subsiding and in Britain, which was tested a lot two months ago, the activity is quite low.
Concern over deaths
Greek scientists had stressed the cunningness of the A(H1NH) flu from its first seasonal appearance. They were proven right by the amount of deaths – 45 in 25 days- but also the amount of ICU inductions – 193 in 1,5 month while during the pandemic a total of 291 people were hospitalized.
The insufficient public vaccination – just 5.7% of the population received the anti-flu vaccine this year – even of persons in groups of high danger, has sounded the alarm in the sanitary authorities. It’s characteristic that from the total number of people who died none was vaccinated.
