Waterpolo: Greek women reach World League finals

















The women's national team qualified to the finals of the World League, to take place next month in China, with three wins in as many games over the weekend of May 20-22 in Athens.



Greece, seen to be among the world's superpowers, had suffered a shock loss to Great Britain in the first round of the qualifying group in Barcelona.


Yet in the matches hosted at the Alimos swimming center for the second half of the group's games, coach Giorgos Morfesis’s players were completely dominant.


The national team defeated Hungary 8-7 on Friday, May 20, Great Britain 10-8 on Saturday and Spain 13-10 on Sunday to top their group.


Greece finished the pool with 13 points, while Spain on 12 points also qualified to the finals that will take place on June 14-19.
