Cruise vacation year for Greece



















Cruise passenger traffic increased in January-August compared with the same period in 2010, proving predictions right and, therefore, the year 2011 was rightfully named “cruise vacation year” for Greece, the Piraeus Port Authority S.A. announced on Friday.



According to the January-August eight-month figures, cruise passenger traffic at Piraeus Port increased 28.6% (1,611,429 arrivals-departures). Transit passenger numbers increased 37.5% (1,309,681) compared with 2010.



Car transshipment via the new car terminal at Ikonio in Piraeus’ Keratsini district also increased 25% from 174,570 cars in 2010 to 218,112 in 2011.
