Emphatic win for PAO in Lithuania

Panathinaikos needed just a good second half on Wednesday to score a precious away win at the start of the second group stage of the Euroleague, beating Lietuvos Rytas 80-59 at Vilnius.
The Greens struggled in the first half as the hosts played a zone defence that troubled the Greeks. Lietuvos led by seven toward the end of the first half (27-20) and went into the third period leading 33-29.
However, the injury to
influential Martynas Gecevicius at the end of the first half took its toll on the Lithuanian side that had huge problems in containing Panathinaikos from then on.
The players of coach Zeljko Obradovic ran riot in the second half, led by impressive Mike Batiste and Costas Kaimakoglou.
With Dimitris Diamantidis (six points, six assists) feeding the ball in the paint, Batiste scored 26 points and Costas Tsartsaris another 12, while Kaimakoglou reached 16 points with three shots out of three outside the 6.75-metre line. He also collected nine rebounds.
