'We are at war and we are not backing off!'

In parliament, at the moment there is a heated discussion on the new legislation of the changes in the Health system, that will be voted tonight at the Parliament summit.

Minister of Health Mr.Loverdos, admitted that we are at war but we are not afraid, whilst criticizing the procedure that has been customary up to now which involves all organizations and professionals of health to have the right to speak through the discussion but not any of the insured citizens-patients. He underlined that by saying “has anybody asked the 78 year old man waiting in line to be examined? Has anyone asked whether he likes or approves the IKA doctors?” “We hear the health professionals and not the citizens, because that is the procedure. This is a Parliament of a union of all major factors involved but not of the citizens and this must change.

The procedure through which hospitals bought machinery and materials was characterized as a “party of profit that anyone could join” and added there are 80 cases where the huge commissions are already investigated by the authorities. He also admitted he realized the magnitude of the illegal commissions and profit made out of the supplies when he compared the same materials and how much they were charged for military hospitals in relation to the normal ones.
